In praise of the square
Symmetrical architecture of Iran
Quadrilateral geometry has played an important role in shaping Iranian architecture. According to the view of past architects, the square symbolizes the four elements (water, wind, soil, fire) and is the most complete geometric form. Therefore, the development of Iranian architectural patterns based on square modules has occurred which is evident in most of the remaining buildings.
But the project has attempted to resemble quadrilateral geometry as an iterative pattern of Iranian architecture. In fact, the facade of the building is flat like a plan and represented by the symmetry axes.
The resulting images give a different understanding of Iranian architecture. Because of this, the influence of the axis of symmetry and depth of field is seen in the views. In addition, the matching of plan and facade reveals new potentials that require further study.
